What is Core Class?

Students work twice a week to put on a final showing on the professional stage. We recommend that students take at least two non-core classes prior to enrolling. For acceptance into this class students must submit an application, which can be found on the enrollment section of the page, on the title of your selected Core section.

Skill Building Classes

Students of all levels will study basic to intermediate techniques, how to use their body to convey character and emotion while dancing, as well as lots of FUN choreography that will help them audition for shows and improve their dance skills!

Broadway Singing: Designed to help hone vocal performance skills, this all-singing class is a great opportunity for beginners and seasoned performers alike to learn basic to intermediate techniques, as well as how to properly use their voice to convey character and emotion while performing a song. The final performance will include songs that feature each student in addition to group numbers.

Youth Stage Intensive - Audition Showcase: This class is application based and requires significant previous experience in musical theater. This class will focus on honing each young actor's audition skills in singing, dancing, and acting. At the end, each actor will present a mock audition and will receive feedback from the artistic leadership at Berkeley Playhouse before presenting the showcase to friends and family.
