Berkeley Playhouse is hiring! We are currently looking to fill the following positions:

Office Administrator

Berkeley Playhouse is looking for an organized, detail-oriented, and positive person to manage our thriving non-profit organization office. The office administrator oversees the smooth running of Berkeley Playhouse administrative systems and protocols by assisting with the day-to-day needs of all departments. Box office support and engaging with patron’s customer service needs in a professional manner is a critical part of the role.

Compensation: hourly, range of $18-20/hr
Classification: part-time, hourly
Terms: At-will employment
Supervisor: Managing Director

Job Responsibilities:

  • Attends weekly Staff Meetings.
  • Answers the main phone line and front door as the first point of communication and redirects customers/visitors as needed.
  • Answer Box Office phone and respond to Box Office emails during hours of operation when the Director of Patron Services is off duty or when Patron Services Manager requires assistance.
  • Books tickets and facilitates exchanges via phone and email, utilizing Audience View software.
  • Maintains office calendars.
  • Picks up and distributes incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Maintains office supply inventory. Orders office and facility supplies and maintains organization of them, maintains petty cash. Inputs contracts, invoices, bills into QuickBooks, and cuts checks on a weekly basis.
  • Point of contact for general office contractors such as water delivery, piano tunings, concessions supplies, et al.
  • Processes production, musician, short-term tenant, and performer contracts (includes MainStage and YouthStage).
  • Accepts, distributes, and returns rented scripts/scores/misc. materials from license holders.Serves as general support in all facets of daily Berkeley Playhouse business as needed.

Teaching Artist

Berkeley Playhouse is seeking vibrant, inspiring, dynamic and experienced musical theatre teaching artists for after school classes and holiday camps.

Applicants should have significant experience in performing as well as directing and teaching children. Classes are arranged by age and experience level; students range in ages from 2-18 and are enrolled at various levels from beginner through pre-professional.

Front of House Staff

We are currently accepting resumes for front of house staff positions. Responsibilities include general house management duties such as enforcing Covid safety protocols, checking tickets, directing patrons to their seats, seating late patrons, and working counter service at concessions when necessary.
