The Story

Into the Woods is a musical that centers around a baker and his wife who wish to lift a family curse and have a child. They are visited by a witch who promises she can help, but only on her terms. The couple must travel into the nearby woods and find four items—a cow as white as milk, a cape as red as blood, the hair as yellow as corn, and a slipper as pure as gold.

In other parts of the woods are princesses Rapunzel, who longs to leave the tower she has been resigned to, and Cinderella, who wishes to no longer feel alone and without a loving family. And you can't forget their respective princes—there's an entire hilarious scene with them comparing tortuous lives without their loves.

Then there are Jack and Little Red Riding Hood, one sent to the market by his mother to sell his favorite cow, while the other hopes for an uninterrupted visit to granny's house.

Adventure ensues for these and many other popular fairytale characters and together they learn to “be careful what you wish for.”
